Internship Program

The internship program identifies, equips, and utilizes men and women for service in the church, and prepares them for significant and potentially full-time, vocational ministry. Interns are often full or part-time students interested in learning more about the inner workings of the church and in working alongside College Church staff.

Interns gain practical experience in service at a church and first-hand exposure to how a church functions and is structured. They also benefit from the discipleship with their pastoral supervisor. Among other things, interns have opportunities to lead Bible studies, teach in classes, direct ministry areas, and help organize events.

Contact the director of the program, Ministry Resident Brandon Levering for more details.

Ministry Residency

The ministry residency is a two-year, full-time postgraduate course of study and training, intended to prepare pastoral leaders for full-time work in the church. This program is “biblically rooted, rigorous in learning and practice, and highly intentional,” as described by our Senior Pastor Kent Hughes.

As a church, we are committed to training and mobilizing pastoral leaders for kingdom expansion. That is why we believe that this program is essential: just as a teaching hospital provides medical residents with further clinical training, College Church provides a residency-type ministry training within the context of the local church. The local church provides exposure to the realities of pastoral ministry and in-depth ministry training in a way that formal education cannot. We desire to equip pastoral leaders for the frontlines of the church—whether as pastors to local churches, church-planters, or missionaries—in a distinctive way.

The residency has two program elements: (1) Ministry Training and (2) Mentored Ministry.

Contact the director of the program, Ministry Resident Brandon Levering, for more information.

The Workshop on Biblical Exposition, sponsored by the Charles Simeon Trust, is a three-day conference for men engaged in fulltime ministry. Hosted at College Church each May, the workshop aims to give ministers confidence, build up their skills in proclaiming God's Word, and provide helpful feedback from their peers.
