Ben and Mandy Pehrson live in Papua New Guinea (PNG), training Papua New Guineans in the joint ministry of Bible translation, literacy and Scripture engagement. Their goal is to see Papua New Guineans knowing and living God’s Word, leading to changed lives and transformed communities. Ben and Mandy are the team leaders for the Aitape West Translation Program, which includes 14 missionaries and about 65 PNG volunteers.
Their team serves 11 different language groups from four language families in the most linguistically diverse area of the world. They are also beginning to train local people in the art of oral Bible storytelling.
Ben regularly teaches introductory linguistics classes for PNG translators, and has begun a PhD in linguistics. Mandy assists with administration for the translation project and teaches cooking at the international school for missionary kids.
