The New Testament encourages Christians to join—or become members of—a local church.
Church membership isn’t only for mature Christians, but for all believers. God calls us not only as individuals, but as a body: the united people of God.
As members of a local church, we proclaim that we belong to Christ and are his followers. Church membership is a way of identifying publicly with his people.
In God’s church, we find spiritual leaders and a Christian community to care for us. We serve together as brothers and sisters, which allows us to make a greater impact on the world around us.
We also pledge ourselves to a membership covenant. In this way, we express long-term commitment in a relationship of mutual responsibilities.
