Care Ministries Overview

At College Church we seek to be a church that cares for one another. We are a larger church that cares like a smaller church—as much as we can, and as far as is possible. To that end, we encourage the biblical injunction to care for one another (Galatians 6:2) in small groups, adult communities, youth ministries and when we meet altogether on Sunday mornings too. We also aim as leaders to equip all of us for this work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12), and as leaders be directly involved with caring as we “encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all” (1 Thessalonians 5:14).

Since 2022 the ministry of congregational care has been facilitated by a care team comprised of multiple members of the pastoral staff, which has worked alongside the wider pastoral staff, the Council of Elders, specialized ministry, and visitation, to help care for those who need it. Going forward, to more effectively respond to the volume and types of care situations which arise, the Council of Elders has decided to build on the learning of this team approach and to shift our care ministry oversight from one dedicated pastor to a team which will specifically include two members of our pastoral staff. With this in view, new titles and job descriptions were approved for Josh Maurer and Mindy Rynbrandt who, together, will partner to oversee congregant care. Josh will now be Pastor of Discipleship & Care and Mindy will be Ministry Director for Women’s Discipleship & Care. Josh and Mindy will both retain portions of their current responsibilities, other parts of which will now be assigned to other staff, and will also provide dedicated oversight to our ministry of care.  Building on what has been started in recent years, we will seek to equip us all for the work of caring for one another as we do the ministry of the body of Christ at College Church together (Eph. 4:12).
